All right everyone, are you ready to continue the Punky-Wunkin Quilt-A-Long? I would like to thank Connecting Threads for sponsoring this year's Quilt-A-Long on my blog. Three weeks ago, on their blog Notions they featured my wall-hanging version of this project as lucky #13 of the Gifty Galore features. I am thrilled to be a part of this program. You can down-load your copy of this pattern exclusively from Connecting Threads HERE. Also, all of the awesome fabrics shown you can purchase from my blog sponsor at Connecting Threads.

Here is a photo of the completed wall hanging. |
In today's post, we will finish piecing our quilt top by adding the sashing to our completed squares and the outer quilt border.

|
THROW:

Wall Hanging |
· Refer to the Quilt Top Assembly Diagrams.
· Sew a 3 ½” by 12 ½” rectangle to the vertical sides of all of the blocks. For the last block in a row, add two—one on each end. Sew these into rows.
Sew the long horizontal sashing strip between each row and to the top and bottom of the quilt center.
|
While the cutting directions show to sew two strips end-to-end, this yields a 90" strip. You can get away with using 1 strip sewn end-to-end to half of a strip or a 66" strip. |

Here is a fun picture. All of the vertical sashing have been created to make rows of this quilt. The horizontal strips are being laid out. |

I think this quilt is cute without the borders added, don't you? Simply use a fun binding and this quilt is done! |
SEW ON OUTER BORDERS:
· Sew these to the quilt top right and left side first, trimming the excess overhang square with the quilt top. Then add the top and bottom borders.
Quilt and bind as desired!
NEXT TIME...SOME GREAT FMQ (Free Motion Quilting) ideas for that top. Now it's time for you to share your projects. I'd love to see them! :)
